Ukrainian footballer hounded for post with Putin's New Year address

MOSCOW, Jan 2 Ukrainians hounded ex-football player of the Ukrainian youth team and a former player of the Russian club “Amkar” Oleg Mishchenko, who congratulated the Russians on the New Year. According to the Ukrainian media, Mishchenko posted on Instagram a video with footage of President Vladimir Putin's New Year's address to the Russians. The athlete signed the video with the phrase “Happy New Year, brothers!” At the moment, due to numerous complaints, the player's Instagram page has been closed, but the screenshot has spread in the media and social networks. Ukrainian journalists began to insult the athlete. In particular, the news site Glavred called Mishchenko's act “a shame.” Some Ukrainians also made rude statements and threats against the player, accusing him of “betrayal”. Mishchenko himself has not yet reacted to the harassment in his address.
