MOSCOW, Jan 8 World No. 1 Novak Djokovic recovered from coronavirus infection over the past month, according to Reuters. According to the source, the Serb provided the relevant documents to the Australian authorities. The 20-time Grand Slam winner received his first coronavirus test on December 16, and Djokovic arrived in Australia on Wednesday to compete in the Australian Open, which kicks off January 17 in Melbourne. The unvaccinated Serb was unable to pass passport control upon arrival in the country and is currently in immigration detention. He appealed the decision of the border guards to the Federal District Court. On Thursday, Australian authorities said they did not plan to deport Djokovic until the next court hearing on Monday. In a court statement, Djokovic indicated that he had selected the correct visa type and received a valid medical challenge from the Australian Open organizers. The Serb also claims that he received permission from the Australian Ministry of the Interior to stay in the country without quarantine. The leader of the world ranking has submitted a request for transfer to another place of residence, in which he could continue his preparations for the first Grand Slam tournament of the season.
