The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has registered a bill on the introduction of penalty points for drivers. As soon as their number reaches 12, the driver will be temporarily deprived of the right to drive the vehicle, reports Chronicle.info with reference to RBK-Ukraine.
& # 171; If a driver receives twelve or more penalty points, and a driver who was issued a driver's license for the first time less than one year ago gets eight or more penalty points, an authorized official of the National Police makes a reasoned decision to temporarily suspend the driver's license & # 187 ;, — says bill 6502, registered on January 5, 2022.
The bill provides that traffic violations will be assessed in the range from one to five penalty points:
- 1 point & nbsp; — unfastened seat belt, transportation of children without a car seat
- 2 points & nbsp; — exceeding the speed limit by 20 km/h, violation of the rules for crossing intersections, overtaking, public transport stops, non-observance of the distance, using a mobile phone while driving
- 3 points & nbsp; — violation of traffic rules and stopping on the lane for public transport, exceeding the speed limit by 50 km/h, failure to provide an ambulance, firefighters, as well as police cars, exceeding the number of passengers in public transport
- 5 points & nbsp; — exceeding the set speed by more than 50 km h, creating an emergency, escaping from the accident scene
Note that they want to accrue points for traffic violations in parallel with fines. The bill provides that the driver's penalty points are reset to zero after one year (365 days) from the date of their accrual.
The suspension of the driver's license can be challenged in court, but during the consideration of the case he will still not be able to drive, otherwise he will pay a fine 3400 hryvnia.
