The local farmer Nikolai Drokov, who owned them, turned to the police. In total, 68 horses grazed between the villages of Solonovka and Kamyshenka — a dozen and a half of them survived. The corpses of the dead animals were left lying in the snow. According to Kommersant, several bullets were fired into each horse.
«The investigation has put forward several versions of what happened, the priority is hooliganism, as well as revenge.
According to preliminary data, local residents have repeatedly expressed claims to the farmer about the land that he uses for pastures,» — reported the publication, citing sources familiar with the case.
According to Drokov, this is not the first incident with the killing of horses in the region. “Last year, someone shot seven horses. They wrote a statement to the police, but the one who did it was never found. We think this is one of our own. I don’t think these are competitors, only 3-4 people are engaged in horse breeding, we don’t interfere with each other, ”he told Komsomolskaya Pravda.
The farmer roughly estimates the damage caused to him in 5 million rubles. The case was initiated under Part 1 of Art. 167 of the Criminal Code («Intentional destruction or damage to other people's property») and is under the control of the head of the Altai Ministry of Internal Affairs Andrei Podolyan. This article implies a maximum sentence of imprisonment for two years.
