MOSCOW, Jan 16Roskomnadzor demanded that Meta, which owns Facebook, unblock the account of the Russian delegation at the talks in Vienna on military security and arms control, RIA Novosti was told in the department's press service. Earlier it became known that the delegation's Facebook page was unavailable. As diplomats later reported on Twitter, this was due to posts about security guarantees. On Sunday, Roskomnadzor sent a letter to Meta Platforms «with a demand to immediately remove all restrictions from the official page of the delegation» and explain the reasons for their introduction. As emphasized in the RKN, the actions of the Facebook administration violate the key principles of the free flow of information and unhindered access to it. The agency considers this an act of censorship prohibited by the Russian Constitution. At the beginning of the week, a series of consultations were held between Russia, the United States and NATO on security guarantees: on January 9-10, the issue was discussed in Geneva at meetings with the American side, on January 12 — at a meeting of the Russia-NATO Council in Brussels, and on January 13 at the OSCE site. The main topic of discussion was the draft treaty with the United States and the agreement with NATO, which the Russian side sent to Washington and its allies at the end of last year. The Kremlin insists on ending the bloc's military cooperation with the post-Soviet countries, refusing to create bases on their territory, limiting the deployment of strike weapons near the Russian border, removing American nuclear weapons from Europe, and guaranteeing NATO's non-expansion to the east. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the West promised to give written answers to the Russian proposals next week. As the minister emphasized, Moscow needs a specific answer to each article of the documents put forward — the further actions of the Russian side and the prospects for the resumption of negotiations will depend on this.
