MOSCOW, 17 Jan. Low titers or the complete absence of antibodies to coronavirus after an illness does not mean that a person has no immunity against COVID-19, Izvestia writes with reference to Vitaly Zverev, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. I. I. Mechnikova at a meeting of the Duma working group on the study of cellular immunity and its role in the fight against COVID-19 said that people who have recovered from COVID-19 may have undetectable or low levels of immunoglobulins. Golikova named five regions where the level of immunity decreasesHowever, immunity «demonstrates» itself, because if the pathogen re-enters the body, memory cells find it and activate protection. “We have several patients who recovered from COVID-19, lost their antibodies completely, a month later they definitely received a dose of infection, but none of them fell ill in any form,” Zverev added. Previously, Professor Vladimir, chief freelance specialist in infectious diseases of the Ministry of Health Chulanov said that the level of antibodies to coronavirus cannot be the basis for making a decision on immunization. The scientist agreed with the WHO's arguments that such an approach has no scientific basis. According to him, checking immunoglobulin titers before vaccination is an empty exercise.
