Tomorrow, January 19, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will pay an official visit to Kiev. The purpose of the visit was not officially announced, but, apparently, it is planned to discuss issues related to security and the threat from the Russian Federation.
It is noted that during during the visit, possible deterrent measures may be discussed, such as sanctions in case of attempts by the Russian Federation to seize new Ukrainian territories, as well as the supply of American weapons to Ukraine.
Following the results of bilateral negotiations between representatives of the Kremlin and Washington, which took place on 10- On January 13, the parties announced their differences. The Russian Federation demands guarantees from NATO regarding non-expansion to the east, which the US considers unacceptable. Official Washington responded with a decisive refusal to the Kremlin to a veiled proposal to divide the world into new «spheres of influence».
Blinken, in turn, said that upon completion of negotiations with the Russian Federation, official representatives of NATO and the OSCE would consult with allied countries and partners.
