MOSCOW, Jan 17 Chelsea and Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy received the award for the best goalkeeper of the year according to the International Football Federation (FIFA). The awards ceremony takes place online in Zurich, Switzerland on Monday. The prize was awarded based on the votes of the fans and an international jury made up of the current coaches and captains of the national teams, as well as journalists from each country. In the 2020/21 season, Mendy won the Champions League with Chelsea. These days, 29-year-old Mendy is taking part in the African Cup of Nations. Also nominated for the award were Paris Saint-Germain and Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and Bayern Munich and Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
