Diplomats in two Russian consulates in Ukraine were ordered to prepare to leave the country. On January 5, 18 people left the country — mostly children and wives of Russian diplomats and consulates in Lvov.
According to a US official, Washington was aware of the impending evacuation.
«We have information indicating that the Russian government was preparing for an evacuation their family members from the Russian Embassy in Ukraine in late December and early January»,— The statement reads.
Recall that US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland recently said that the United States of America has prepared 18 scenarios in case of a Russian invasion of Ukraine, but is not going to disclose them yet.
