The Foreign Ministry called the blocking of the RT DE channel in Germany censorshipAs Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the day before, following negotiations with Burbock, Russia has reason to believe that the German authorities are directly related to the harassment of RT DE. He expressed the hope that Berlin would take steps to prevent such discrimination. Moscow does not want to create obstacles for the work of German journalists in Russia, but may be forced to do so if the situation with RT in Germany is not resolved, the Russian minister stressed. Earlier, RT announced the launch of a new round-the-clock news channel in German — RT DE. His news studios are located in Moscow and Berlin. It will broadcast news, talk shows and documentaries. On the day of the launch of television broadcasting, YouTube blocked the new channel. In August, RT DE received an official refusal to obtain a broadcasting license from Luxembourg, which referred to «information and analysis of the German authorities.» In September, YouTube permanently removed two RT DE channels for allegedly «violating community guidelines». 
The RT DE license was legally issued in Serbia, the regulator said. At the same time, RT DE was in fourth place in terms of influence among media resources in Germany. For example, according to Tubular Labs, Deutsche Welle and other well-known German media outlets, Ambassador to Berlin Sergei Nechaev said that Moscow would «definitely» respond to these actions. The Foreign Ministry emphasized that the Russian side would be forced to take retaliatory steps. As RIA Novosti was told in the press service of the Berlin-Brandenburg Media Administration (MABB), on December 17, 2021, the media regulator initiated legal proceedings against RT DE Productions GmbH.
