Ukraine is in the top 25 countries in terms of wage growth

On the other hand, there were no minimum wage increases in 10 countries at all.

We conducted a study on how the minimum wage changed in 64 countries during 2021. Ukraine is in 25th place in the ranking the size of the minimum wage, that is, without taxes, increased by 8.3% — from 4830 to 5233 hryvnia. The salary was about 196 dollars.

As in other countries

In Ukraine, growth is mediocre when compared with other countries. The situation is worse only in Moldova, which was in 54th place.

  • In Poland, the minimum wage increased by 14.6% — 11th place,
  • in Hungary — by 24.2 % — 6th place,
  • in Belarus — by 14.3% — 13th place,
  • in Moldova — by 0.7% — 54th place.

Most «minimal» grew in Montenegro — as much as 102%. Its size has increased from 256 to 514 dollars «hand». In Argentina, payments increased by 55%, in Turkey — 50%, in Kazakhstan — 41%, Saudi Arabia — 33.3%.

On the other hand, in 10 countries there was no increase in minimum wages at all. For example, Israel, Armenia, Philippines, Peru and Nigeria.

People's purchasing power

At the same time, experts calculated that 36% of the minimum wage should be spent on a minimum food basket in Ukraine. In this rating, the country ranks 47th among 64 countries, slightly ahead of Brazil, Moldova and Belarus.

The worst ratio of the price of the food basket to the «minimum wage» in Russia, Kazakhstan and India. You have to spend almost half of your salary on groceries there. The best situation is in the UK, Ireland and Australia.

How much Ukrainians earn

  • The minimum wage in Ukraine in January 2022 is 6.5 thousand hryvnia.
  • The average nominal salary of a full-time employee enterprises, institutions and organizations in November 2021 amounted to UAH 14,282. This is 237 hryvnia more compared to October.
  • The State Statistics Service considered that most often citizens receive a salary of up to 7,000 hryvnia. But salaries of more than 20 thousand hryvnias were accrued for 15.8% of employees.
