The Ministry of Justice entered the Republic into the register of media outlets as “foreign agents” due to paid subscriptions from the United States and Kazakhstan issued for the publication. This was reported by Dmitry Kolezev, editor-in-chief of the Republic.
As stated in the documents, the Ministry of Justice considered the subscription payment by the Wall Street Journal correspondent office, two organizations from Germany and Kazakhstan, as well as the consulate of Finland and the embassies of Kazakhstan, France, Lithuania as foreign funding and «Swiss Conference».
In total, since 2019, the department has recorded 178.5 thousand rubles of foreign funding from the Republic. “We calculated that this is something around 0.18% of the turnover. Soon we have a court on foreign agency status. Judge Nelli Rubtsova, who had previously turned down a bunch of “foreign agents”, will consider it,” Kolezev wrote. publish-photo__image» data-type=»photo» data-slate-custom=»{«imgSrc»:»https://s3.zona.media/entry/f5fcb396c552d13603bd66f40110fa07″,»alt»:»» }» alt=»1″ />
