Antonov accused the United States of «inflating the soap bubble» because of Ukraine

Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov. File photoWASHINGTON, Jan 21 Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov called unsubstantiated Washington's allegations of an alleged Russian disinformation campaign regarding the situation in Ukraine, seeing them as an attempt to nullify bilateral discussions about security guarantees in Europe.

"Within a few hours, the Americans published as many as three documents designed to expose the Russian authorities and state media. We didn't see anything new. Washington continues to inflate a soap bubble based on allegations and continues to refute the objective facts about what is happening in Ukraine, calling them "myths of Russian propaganda", said the head of the Russian diplomatic mission in the United States, whose comment was published on the embassy's Facebook page .

Antonov saw in such actions by the United States an attempt, on the eve of a meeting scheduled for Friday between the heads of the foreign ministries of the two countries, to prepare the ground in advance in order to “reduce the discussion about security guarantees in Europe to the notorious “Russian aggression” against Ukraine. Earlier, a senior representative of the American foreign policy department, who asked not to name him, stated during a telephone briefing that allegedly “the FSB directly gives instructions and influences proxy media in order to publish content that discredits and falsely accuses Ukraine.” According to him, “the articles that appear in these proxy media media, as a result, end up not only in such official media as RIA Novosti, RT and Sputnik, but also in others. The United States plans to fight with Russia to the last Ukrainian. At the same time, he did not provide any evidence for his allegations. Russia has repeatedly rejected the accusations of the West and Ukraine of «aggressive actions.» The Russian Foreign Ministry called accusations against Moscow about a possible escalation of the situation around Ukraine a provocation and a bluff: they are used as a pretext to deploy more NATO military equipment near Russian borders. The Russian Foreign Ministry previously noted that Western statements about «Russian aggression» and the ability to help Kiev defend itself against it are both ridiculous and dangerous. >Biden is persuading Russia to invade Ukraine, but not very deep. At the same time, Kiev and Western states have recently expressed concern about the alleged increase in «aggressive actions» from Russia near the borders of Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that Russia is moving troops within its territory and at its own discretion. According to him, this does not threaten anyone and should not worry anyone.
