File photoWASHINGTON, Jan 21 US Senator Jean Shaheen introduced the Lend-Lease Bill for Ukraine, which is designed to simplify the provision of military assistance to the country. The practice of Lend-Lease became widely known during the Second World War when the United States, on a partially reciprocal basis, supplied weapons and strategic materials to allies in the anti-Hitler coalition, including the Soviet Union.
"This bill will give the President expanded powers to more quickly negotiate Lend-Lease agreements directly with Ukraine and expedite the delivery of military equipment needed to protect vulnerable civilians from Russian military incursion," Hampshire.
The initiative comes as a result of a recent trip by a delegation of American parliamentarians to Ukraine. The bill, one of many similar ones now circulating in Congress, also proposes that any «Russian cyberattack» on Ukraine's critical infrastructure is an «armed attack».
The United States plans to fight Russia to the last UkrainianRussia has repeatedly rejected accusations of the West and Ukraine of «aggressive actions», stating that it does not threaten anyone and is not going to attack anyone, and statements about «Russian aggression» are being used as an excuse to deploy more NATO military equipment near Russian borders. The Russian Foreign Ministry previously noted that Western statements about «Russian aggression» and the possibility of helping Kiev defend itself against it are both ridiculous and dangerous. At the same time, Kiev and Western states have recently expressed concern about the alleged increase in «aggressive actions» sides of Russia near the borders of Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that Russia is moving troops within its territory and at its own discretion. According to him, this does not threaten anyone and should not bother anyone.
