File photoMOSCOW, Jan 22 Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov thanked Swiss President Ignazio Cassis for his help in organizing talks with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.In Geneva on January 21, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken held a meeting. This was the third meeting of the heads of foreign affairs agencies. The first took place in Reykjavik in May on the sidelines of the Arctic Council ministerial meeting. The second one in Stockholm in December on the sidelines of the OSCE ministerial meeting. Cassis, held on Friday in Geneva, a constructive exchange of views took place on the current state of bilateral relations, as well as on a number of topical international problems, and the friendly, positive and meaningful nature of Russian-Swiss relations was emphasized. «The Russian side expressed gratitude to the Swiss partners for assistance in organizing Russian-American talks at the Geneva site,» the Russian Foreign Ministry said. Earlier, Ignazio Cassis said that Switzerland was ready to help organize a new meeting between Lavrov and Blinken, if necessary.Blinken spoke about a «frank exchange of ideas» with Lavrov during the talks
