The authorities of the Rostov region lifted the ban on laughing during marriage

The Civil Registry Office (ZAGS) of the Rostov Region has lifted the ban on laughing during the wedding ceremony, according to the agency's website.

In the previous version of the Procedure for holding a marriage ceremony in a solemn atmosphere, “loud conversations (including on the phone), exclamations, laughter” were prohibited.

“New wording: loud conversations (including on the phone), and other actions that interfere with the marriage ceremony in a solemn atmosphere on the premises of the registry office,” the press release says.

The registry office of the Rostov region published a decree prohibiting making noise and laughing at the wedding on January 17. The head of the department, Olga Isaenko, insisted that such rules have always been in force, and this year they were simply written in the documents.

“We must remember that marriage is not a farce, and the registry office is not a place for jokes. This is the place where a new family is born. And usually people are imbued with this event, they may even cry. But if people are serious about this event, no one is laughing,” she said.
