KAZAN, January 27, Vadim Kuznetsov. Former President of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) ) Vladimir Drachev said that in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, under existing medical rules, it would be better to postpone the Olympic Games in China, as they lose their sporting principle. The Games in Beijing will start on February 4. Due to the pandemic, the Olympics will be held without spectators, and athletes and team delegations are required to comply with a code of rules aimed at combating the spread of COVID-19.
"Why hold such an Olympic Games when it is walking on a knife edge over a burning bathtub ? Fell and all — burned down. One person gets infected, the whole team suffers. What is it for? How to protect yourself from this? From a sporting point of view, this is not an Olympics, but a competition between the semi-sick and those who have not yet become infected", — said Drachev.
«Then cancel these tests. Say that everyone should perform: both sick and healthy. Otherwise it turns out that a person was tested today, and tomorrow he does not participate in the race. How is this possible if he has been preparing for it for four years? Let him run, and then decide whether he needs to be treated, put in the hospital and so on. There is no death among athletes. They are healthy people. Positive test, negative — let everyone participate if they feel well, «said the former president of the RRF.
