"Following the negotiations <…> the following agreements have been reached: on a complete ceasefire; on the withdrawal of each of the parties of additional forces and means, drawn to the border, to the places of permanent deployment; on the opening of traffic on the Batken-Isfana highway; on joint patrolling of law enforcement officers of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in the border areas in order to prevent conflicts", the representative of the press service said.

According to him, the governors of the Batken region of Kyrgyzstan and the Sughd region of Tajikistan, as well as representatives of the border departments and law enforcement agencies of the two countries, took part in the negotiations. Earlier it became known about the beginning of a skirmish between the border guards of the two countries. According to the Border Service of Kyrgyzstan, grenade launchers and mortars were used from the opposite side. The cause of the conflict was the blocking of the highway connecting the Kyrgyz cities of Isfana and Batken by the Tajik military. The border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan periodically becomes a zone of conflict between local residents and border guards of the two countries, which arise due to non-delimited sections where it is impossible to determine how the border between states runs. At the end of April last year, in the same area, the conflict of residents at the Golovnoy water intake escalated into an armed confrontation between the military of the two countries. 36 citizens of Kyrgyzstan were killed, about 200 were injured. Tajikistan reported 19 dead and 87 injured. More than 300 houses and infrastructure facilities were destroyed or burned down. The truce was reached by the evening of April 30. />Infographics
