Zarema Musaeva, the wife of federal judge Saydi Yangulbaev, who was kidnapped by Chechen security forces from Nizhny Novgorod, refused the services of a lawyer. This is reported by the «Committee against Torture» (CPT).

Just like a few days before, the defenders were not allowed to see Musaeva — today in the special detention center in Grozny, where she is serving an administrative arrest, they referred to quarantine and a “call from the authorities”. Two hours later, Hussein Aidamirov, deputy head of the police for public order protection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Chechnya, drove up to the lawyers who were at the special detention center. He showed the defenders a statement allegedly written by Musayeva.
It says that Musayeva now has the opportunity to use the services of a lawyer, Alexander Nemov, and that her rights have been explained to her. “I don’t need services,” the statement said further. In addition, it says that Musayeva refuses to participate in “any procedural or other actions” because of her condition.
Musayeva's son, ex-employee of the North Caucasian branch of the checkpoint Abubarkar Yangulbaev, told Sota.Vision that the statement is only a refusal of certain services, and not of a lawyer. In addition, according to him, Musayeva could not write such a statement herself, because she does not know legal terms. “It is clear that someone dictated to her,” said Yangulbaev.
