Archival photoMOSCOW, Jan 30Most often, drivers find themselves in a situation in winter when the state registration plate is covered in snow and «unreadable,» Anatoly Mironov, head of the Zashchita Moscow Bar Association branch, told Prime News Agency .He explained that traffic police inspectors are often sympathetic to drivers and limit themselves to remarks that fully comply with part one of Article 12.2 of the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Violations.
"But do not forget that the same rule provides for a fine in in the amount of 500 rubles. And if the license plate is intentionally covered with snow to such an extent that it prevents it from being read, then liability may arise under the second part of this article, where the punishment is much more serious — a fine of five thousand rubles or deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of one up to three months", the lawyer warned.
Mironov also pointed out the need to be attentive to the technical condition of the car and, in order not to get a fine of 500 rubles, to monitor the health of the windshield heating system, the windshield washer system; for cleanliness on external lights.
