Russian curlers failed to qualify for the Games in this form. The official opening ceremony of the 24th Olympiad will be held on February 4 at the National Stadium. Seven disciplines that were not previously Olympic will debut in Beijing — women's singles bobsleigh, men's and women's freestyle big air, mixed relay in short track, mixed team competitions in freestyle in acrobatics, ski jumping and snowboard cross. In total, athletes will compete for 109 sets of medals.
