The fact that the case of the death of Valery Pshenichny was not completely covered with dust in the Investigative Committee, that some actions are continuing on it, «Novaya» learned surprisingly from our sometimes in a way: from the very consequence. Soon after another scandal with torture in prisons in the UK, apparently, there was a new round of activity on this topic, and we received a request: if the newspaper photographed Valery Pshenichny in court, when a measure of restraint was chosen for him, we must send these photos to the UK plus “provide certified copies” of all publications about the case.
On the phone, the investigator allowed me to provide links to publications on the newspaper’s website, since I didn’t have paper versions for 2018 at hand. And this is what I liked the most: when our ebullient investigation needs to expose dangerous bloggers, it finds all the necessary links on its own, quickly, efficiently and without the help of journalists. One Bastrykin magnifying glass is enough. But thanks to the investigator Devyatayev from the Investigative Committee stationed in St. Petersburg, for the fact that, in principle, the Pshenichny case is somehow dealt with four years later.
