Beijing, Feb 12, Anatoly Samokhvalov. Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva with an error on triple axel held a practice run of a short program at lunchtime at the Beijing Olympics. Valieva appeared at a practice session on Saturday, which takes place on the reserve ice of the Capital Sports Palace. Her friend in the group of coach Eteri Tutberidze Anna Shcherbakova also took to the ice. Another Russian figure skater Alexandra Trusova is absent from training. During the run, Valieva hit the axel in three and a half turns, but fell, then she cleanly performed triple flip-triple toe loop and triple lutz-triple toe loop combinations. The short program in women's single skating will take place at the Olympic Games on February 15. On Saturday International Agency Testing Agency (ITA) reported that Valieva’s doping test dated December 25, 2021 gave a positive result, which was reported by the anti-doping laboratory in Stockholm on February 8, 2022. Valieva on the same day was temporarily suspended from participating in the Olympics, after an appeal, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) lifted the suspension on February 9. The International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Skating Union (ISU) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) have said they will file a protest against Valieva's suspension being lifted.
