CAS explained why Valiyeva was allowed to the personal tournament of the Olympics

Beijing, Feb 14, Andrey Simonenko. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), when deciding on the admission of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva to the individual tournament of the Beijing Olympics, took into account that the athlete was late notified of a positive doping test at the end of December, without giving time for defense, the release says CAS. On Monday, CAS made the decision to allow Valieva to compete in the Olympics, rejecting protests from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the International Skating Union (ISU) to lift her suspension. It was previously known that her doping test, taken on December 25, gave a positive result, and the athlete and other interested parties were notified only on February 8.

"CAS notes that a serious problem with the late notification of the athlete about the results of the doping test , which was taken in December 2021, violated the athlete’s right to legal support, and such late notification was not her fault during the Olympics", the release says.
