Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva takes first place in the short program at the Beijing Olympics. She made a triple Axel exit error and scored 82.16 points.

The second place at this stage is Anna Shcherbakova. She skated her program cleanly and scored 80.20 points. Kaori Sakamoto from Japan is in third place with 79.84 points.
Russia's Aleksandra Trusova is in fourth place. The figure skater fell off the triple axel at the beginning of the performance and got 74.60 points.
The free program will take place on January 17.
