The Ministry of Internal Affairs, at the request of the court, changed the term of the “undesirable” stay of comedian Idrak Mirzalizade in Russia. If earlier the decision of the department was valid for life, now it is until August 27, 2035, Sergey Badamshin, the comedian's lawyer, said in his telegram channel.
This decision was made by the Ministry of Internal Affairs after the Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow ordered the department to set a “reasonable” period for the comedian’s unwanted stay in Russia.
Shit and national security. How and why comedian Idrak Mirzalizade was banned from entering Russia for life
In early August, the comedian was arrested for 10 days under the article on inciting hatred (Article 20.3.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) because of a joke about Russians. The prosecutor's office found «signs of humiliation of a group of people» on a national basis in Mirzalizade's speech, where he joked about looking for housing in Moscow. The comedian himself said that his «performance was aimed at ridiculing xenophobia», he also apologized to those who could be offended by jokes from his stand-up.
However, in the same month, the Ministry of Internal Affairs recognized the comedian's stay in Russia as undesirable for life. “In his public speech, Idrak Mirzalizade made expressions that incited hatred and enmity towards persons of Russian nationality, degrading their human dignity,” the department explained its position.
Mirzalizade filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Internal Affairs with a request to declare illegal the decision of the department and the inaction of the police, who did not inform him about it. After that, the court suspended the decision on the undesirability of the comedian's stay in the country.
