Prince AndrewLONDON Feb 16British Prince Andrew, accused of raping a minor, will pay 12 million pounds (more than $ 16 million) in an out-of-court settlement under pressure from the Queen, the Mirror newspaper reports, citing sources close to the royal family. Earlier it became known that Prince Andrew reached an out-of-court agreements with human rights activist Virginia Giuffre who accused him of rape. A formal request to do so will be made within 30 days. For this period, the parties are asked to cancel all deadlines for the process and suspend the case. In addition, Prince Andrew announced his intention to donate a substantial amount to charity in support of victims of violence. «It is hoped that the out-of-court settlement of £12 million, which avoids a potentially dangerous lawsuit, will stop a scandal that could further damage the royal family,” the newspaper writes. However, the newspaper suggests that out of 12 million pounds, only 2 million will go to charity, and the remaining 10 million will go personally to Giuffre. According to sources, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles put significant pressure on Prince Andrew , insisting that he settle the case. Despite the agreement, Prince Andrew still maintains his innocence and «believes he can find a way to return to public life,» according to sources. Giuffre is one of the most famous women who accused the financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was prosecuted for trading infidels juvenile. She claims that Epsteen's circle included the second son of Elizabeth II, Britain's Prince Andrew, who raped her in London when she was 17 years old. Prince Andrew denies ties to Giuffre. In January, amid the allegations and ensuing lawsuit, Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Andrew had been stripped of honorary military ranks, royal patronage, would no longer be able to use the title of «His Royal Highness», and the court would to defend himself as a private person. The statement came amid the refusal of an American court to grant the prince's request to dismiss the lawsuit against him from Giuffre.
