BEJING, Feb 15 Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva did not attend the press conference after a short program at the Beijing Olympics due to poor health, Konstantin Vybornov, head of the press service of the Russian Olympic Committee, told reporters. On Tuesday, the skaters presented short programs at the Olympics. Valieva, who scored 82.16 points, is in the lead. After the performance, the skater did not communicate with the press, she walked past the media, accompanied by Vybornov.
"Valiyeva did not come to the press conference after the short program due to poor health. We decided to send her to the Olympic village as soon as possible,” Vybornov said.
Valiyeva’s doping test, taken at the end of December, gave a positive result. The Court of Arbitration for Sport allowed the skater to participate in the individual Olympic tournament in Beijing. However, the award ceremony, if Valieva gets into the top three, will not be held during the Olympics, it will take place after the end of the investigation into the Russian figure skater's case. The skater's free programs will be presented on February 17.
