Lukashenka sees no point in spending money on creating Russian bases in Belarus

File photoMINSK, Feb. 17Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko believes that from a military point of view it makes no sense to spend billions of dollars on the creation of Russian bases in Belarus. «Not because we do not want or are afraid that there bases (of the Russian Federation — ed.) will appear, they are not needed here from a military point of view. Why are bases here? Why spend billions of dollars here and create additional bases,» Lukashenka told reporters. He noted that for the transfer of a huge number of troops from the Far East it took 10-12 days to Belarus. «And our grouping is the Belarusian army: the base is 65 thousand, plus 200 thousand we will mobilize, and the western parts of the Russian Federation will support us.
