One of the sarcophagi of King Tutankhamun of EgyptMOSCOW, 25 Feb. Archaeologists have determined that the dagger from the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun was forged from meteorite iron outside of Ancient Egypt, writes The Sun. This discovery confirmed the version that the dagger, discovered in the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922, was originally sent as a gift to his grandfather Tutankhamun from another ancient state. The artifact dates back to the 14th century BC, it was found at the thigh of the mummy of Tutankhamen. Past research has determined that the blade is made from meteoric iron, which the ancient Egyptians at that time could not work with. An analysis by a team of scientists from the Chiba Institute of Technology in Japan showed that the object was smelted at less than 950°C and likely , was made outside of Egypt — in Anatolia. The X-ray study also demonstrated that the golden dagger handle was made using lime plaster, which began to be used by the Egyptians much later. According to scholars, the young pharaoh inherited the dagger from his grandfather, as it was passed down from generation to generation. Tutankhamun, an Egyptian 18th dynasty pharaoh, ruled Egypt from 1332 to 1323 BC.Heart of Egypt: what is the secret of the popularity of Luxor and CairoPosted by: Emil Kalimullin
