The European Union officially disconnects seven Russian banks from the SWIFT international payment system. They were given 10 days to curtail their SWIFT operations, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
It is reported that VTB Bank (the second largest in Russia), a bank «Opening», «Novikombank», «Promsvyazbank», «Bank Russia», «Sovcombank» and VEB.
The banks in this list have been selected based on ties to the Russian state. State banks have long been under sanctions. «Sberbank» and «Gazprombank» were not included in the list, as they are the main payment channels for Russian oil and gas.
