MOSCOW, Mar 3 The Latvian wheelchair curling team refused to play against the team Russia in the match of the Paralympic Games in Beijing. On Wednesday, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) decided to allow the Russians and Belarusians to the Paralympics in Beijing in a neutral status under the flag of the IPC. Athletes of the Russian Paralympic Committee will be abbreviated as NPA (Neutral Paralympic Athletes, neutral Paralympic athletes). «Based on the decision of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete as neutral athletes, the Latvian wheelchair team has decided not to play with Russian team at the upcoming Winter Paralympic Games in Beijing,» the statement posted on the official website of the Latvian Curling Association reads. «We called an in-person meeting and, based on the results of the vote, decided not to take part in the game with Russia,» said the head coach of the Latvian national curling team in wheelchair curling Arnis Veidemanis.
