Earthquake strikes off Indonesian coast

Seismograph MOSCOW, Mar 14 An earthquake of magnitude 6.6 hit off the coast of Indonesia, reports US Geological Survey (USGS). Earlier, seismologists reported a powerful earthquake off the coast of the Philippines. A new earthquake was recorded at 21.09 UTC (0.09 Moscow time). The epicenter of the tremors was located 168 kilometers west of the city of Pariaman in the province of West Sumatra. The source of the earthquake lay at a depth of 16 kilometers. There was no information about possible casualties and destruction, and no threat of a tsunami was announced.
