Experts noted that in the period from 2012 to 2016, the number of weapons sold was 4.6% more than in subsequent five years. According to SIPRI, for the period from 2017 to 2021, Russia accounted for 19% of all sales — 26% lower than in the previous period. In turn, the US supplied 39% of the total, increasing sales by 14% over the previous five years. According to the results, Russia and the United States remained the largest exporters of weapons. It is noted that 43% of American deliveries fell on the countries of the Middle East. The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute SIPRI was founded in 1966 and is an independent analytical center engaged in research on conflicts, armament and disarmament.
