For the first time in its history, the European Union approved a defense strategy because of Russia's attack on Ukraine, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to TSN.
This was announced by Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics.
On March 21, the EU approved the «Strategic Compass».
«The European Union just approved the «Strategic Compass», it gives a necessary set of tools for the EU, together with NATO, to become a real player in geopolitical defense and security», wrote the Latvian Foreign Minister.
The Latvian Foreign Minister stressed that this «is only the beginning path», since much will depend on what kind of support the EU provides to Ukraine.
«Much will depend on how successfully we support Ukraine against Russian aggression» emphasized Edgars Rinkevics.
