File photoBRUSSELS, Mar 25 EU leaders have agreed to create a solidarity fund with Ukraine, inviting international partners to participate in it, according to a document following the first day of the meeting of EU heads of state.
" The European Union is committed to providing support to the Ukrainian government in its urgent needs, and after the end of the Russian onslaught, to the restoration of a democratic Ukraine. To this end, the European Council agrees to create a trust fund for solidarity with Ukraine", the release says.
The Council invited its international partners to participate in this matter. The European Council also called for the «timely organization» of an international conference to raise funds within trust fund. On February 24, Russia launched a military operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine. In response, Western countries announced large-scale sanctions against Moscow, primarily in the banking sector and the supply of high-tech products.
