File photoUN, Mar 26 The United States is working with the UN Secretariat to create a reliable banking channel for the DPRK, US Ambassador to the organization Linda Thomas-Greenfield said at a meeting of the UN Security Council. According to her, the main barrier to sending humanitarian aid to the DPRK is the closure of the borders by Pyongyang, not international sanctions.

"The United States remains committed to resolving the humanitarian situation in the DPRK, so we suggested discussing these issues with the DPRK directly. But we still haven't received a response,” Thomas-Greenfield said.

“We also continued to support… implementation of sanctions exemptions for humanitarian organizations. And that is why we are now working closely with UN Secretariat to create a reliable banking channel,” she added.
