MOSCOW, April 7 Head of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Elena Vyalbe admitted that the three-time Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov used a therapeutic exception last season.
& # 34; This season, Bolshunov took a therapeutic exception, which is not even necessary for the out-of-competition period — Sasha had problems with his teeth. There was some kind of drug that could be used during the operation. At the same time, the doctors said that it was not necessary — it was still far from the start. But we did it anyway. Sasha treats this very reverently, strictly. So that, God forbid, something does not happen … But it was once. Nobody was going to extend anything. After all, a medicine is of no use if you don’t need it", — Alla Shishkina’s YouTube channel quotes her as saying.
Vyalbe noted that she treats therapeutic exceptions as legalized doping. According to her, it is impossible to use the same exception for many years. The specialist noted that such actions remain on the conscience of the athletes. Last year, in the offseason, Bolshunov fell off his bike at a training camp in Crimea, injured his teeth and arm, and the athlete also had problems with Achilles tendons. In October, Bolshunov underwent surgery due to a problem with a cyst that arose after an improperly healed filling of the nerve canal of the tooth. At the Beijing Olympics, Bolshunov won three gold, one silver and one bronze medals.
