Ukraine is rapidly moving towards integration with the European Union and is now taking steps to integrate into European markets. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to the Correspondent.
The head of government noted that the Versailles Declaration received by Ukraine on the accelerated procedure for obtaining the status of a candidate for entry into the EU — ; this is one of the stages on the way to full membership. Therefore, it is very important to fulfill some requirements and be integrated into European markets.
Shmygal stressed that Ukraine has already concluded an open skies agreement with the EU and technically joined the European energy network ENTSO-E.
«Now we have begun work on a full-fledged commercial connection, that is, in work on the common market. And even there is already the first contract for the export of electricity to the EU — 200 MW. This is a huge European integration progress», the Prime Minister said.
As the head of government noted, Ukraine continues to move towards the European Union, in particular, it is rapidly working on joint customs, joint transit transportation, an agreement on conformity assessment and acceptability of industrial products.
Shmyhal also said that President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and High Representative of the EU Josep Borrell will give Ukraine a questionnaire during their visit to Kyiv.
«This a bureaucratic document that will allow you to obtain the status of a candidate for EU membership. Other countries have been moving towards this for years, some have been going for decades. We understand that Europe is giving us good signals and is waiting for us in the European Union», said Shmygal, adding that this inspires many people.
