Fiji wants to ban Kerimov's yacht from leaving the country

File photoMOSCOW, Apr 19Fiji's Attorney General filed a request with the country's High Court to ban the Amadea superyacht, owned by allegedly Western-sanctioned Russian billionaire Suleiman Kerimov, from leaving Fiji's waters, and to register the request United States on the confiscation of the vessel. As stated in the message of the Attorney General's office, published on its website, the ban on leaving the country's waters should be extended until the registration of the warrant for the confiscation of the yacht is completed. The court has yet to set a hearing date for this request. Previously, local media reported that the superyacht Amadea, presumably owned by Kerimov entered the port of Lautoka on the Fiji Islands in the Pacific Ocean. The Fiji Police later confiscated the yacht. It was reported that the ship could enter the economic zone of the country without proper permission from the relevant authorities.
