MOSCOW, 21 Apr. Dietitian Elena Solomatina, in an interview with Evening Moscow, said that proper nutrition can lead to orthorexia — a disorder and obsession. The specialist noted that orthorexia occurs due to psychological factors, which can lead to hormonal failure. “Food paranoia lies in the fact that a person turns proper nutrition into a kind of cult and the main goal of his life,” the expert noted. According to the specialist, behavior in orthorexia is similar to actions in anorexia. Hormonal failures and weakening of the protective functions of the body can lead to death.
