The EU is ready to support Ukraine.
The European Commission is considering granting Ukraine a status candidate for EU membership by the end of June. After that, the European Council will be able to start a discussion on further steps, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to Channel 24.
This was announced at a briefing in Kyiv by the President of the European Council Charles Michel. It should be noted that the press conference on April 20 took place after negotiations with Volodymyr Zelensky.

He stressed that the official opinion of the Commission would be formed before the end of June.
< p>It will be my responsibility to assess when I can put this issue on the agenda of the European Council, to make sure that we have a political discussion, a dialogue, to make progress on this path,
added the President of the European Council.
He added that he has strong support and is now fully convinced that the European Council will be able to assist Ukraine in further steps.
He stressed that Ukraine demonstrates commitment to democratic principles and freedoms day by day.
