The court fined a Komi resident who poured red paint on a banner with a St. George ribbon in the shape of the letter Z

The Ukhta City Court of Komi fined a 33-year-old local resident 30,000 rubles under the article on “discrediting” the Russian military (Part 1 of Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). This was reported by the press service of the court and the republican department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the police, a resident of Ukhta poured red paint over a banner on a multi-storey building with a St. George ribbon in the shape of the letter Z, which supporters of the war in Ukraine use as their symbol .

He was identified by surveillance cameras. The police claim that they found on the man’s phone “correspondence confirming the fact that he was preparing to commit an unlawful act”, and he himself “admitted his guilt and expressed his apologies to the citizens whose feelings he offended.”

According to the file of the court, it is about Dmitry Polyakov. A photo of the damaged banner was posted by the Ukhta edition of The Day. A banner with the letter Z, several stories high, hung on a house on Pervomaiskaya Street above the sign for the Yulya grocery store.
