Russian swimmers will be stripped of their World Championship gold medals 2016 due to the disqualification of Artem Lobuzov, the International Swimming Federation (FINA) reported. Then the Russian men's team, consisting of Mikhail Dovgalyuk, Mikhail Vekovishchev, Artem Lobuzov and Alexander Krasnykh, won the 4×200-meter freestyle relay. At the end of March of this year, the FINA Anti-Doping Commission disqualified Lobuzov for four years for doping.
"Artem Lobuzov was asked to return his medals from these competitions, since the team was disqualified. <…> All team members are disqualified. They were asked to return their medals. FINA will redistribute the awards", the federation said in a statement.
Now the 2016 World Cup gold will go to the US team.
