The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine lifted the seizure of money that was used to bribe the leadership of NABU. Now these funds will be transferred to the accounts of the Ukrainian army.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine announced the transfer of a large amount for the Ukrainian army, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to Focus.
According to the press service of NABU, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine decided to remove the arrest from six million dollars, which appeared in the case of bribing the leadership of NABU. This decision was made at the initiative of NABU and SAP detectives.
These funds were seized after an attempt to give the largest bribe in the history of Ukraine, which led to a loud scandal.
The largest bribe in Ukraine
In 2020, the leaders of NABU and SAPO could receive $6 million from proxies of the former Minister of Ecology in the government of Mykola Azarov, Mykola Zlochevsky.
According to the materials, the bribe was supposed to stimulate the closure of the case, in which Zlochevsky helped in taking possession of the funds of the stabilization loan of the National Bank, issued to «Real Bank». A group of three people who negotiated the transfer of money in exchange for closing the case set the deadline for the operation — until June 14, since Nikolai Zlochevsky celebrated his birthday on that day. One of the detainees was a high-ranking official of the Main Directorate of the traffic police in Kyiv. The second person was related to the oil company Burisma, and the third suspect was an employee of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine.
The ex-head of the NABU Artem Sytnyk and the ex-head of the specialized anti-corruption prosecutor's office Nazar Kholodnitsky told more about this story during a joint briefing .
Recall that on April 12 it became known that Artem Sytnik was dismissed from the post of director of NABU. According to the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Artem Sytnyk's powers expired on April 16, 2022. The duties of the director of NABU will be performed by the first deputy Gizo Uglava.
