MOSCOW, 28 Apr. The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) may replace two-round Champions League semi-finals to the Final Four format, according to The Times. The source notes that the European Club Association (ECA) is ready to support the idea of holding the final stages of the play-offs in one city for one week, and the semi-finals will consist of one match. The leading clubs in Europe also spoke in favor of a similar format. It is noted that UEFA has not yet made a final decision on the reform. The Champions League playoffs were held in a similar format in the 2019/20 season due to the coronavirus pandemic. In August, in Lisbon, the teams finished the tournament as part of the Final Eight. The quarter-finals and semi-finals were played in one match.
