MOSCOW, April 27 Wimbledon tournament organizers respond to criticism of Novak Djokovic about the ban on the participation of Russian and Belarusian tennis players. Previously, the current Wimbledon winner Novak Djokovic said that he did not see the need to ban the participation of Russian and Belarusian tennis players in the tournament. «We respect the opinions of others. This is a very difficult situation. Now we are trying to explain to everyone the reasons why we believe the decision was the right one for Wimbledon,» Ian Hewitt, president of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC), was quoted by the British Express edition. The Wimbledon tennis tournament will take place from June 27 to July 10. Last week, the organizers of Wimbledon refused to Russian and Belarusian tennis players to participate in the competition because of the situation in Ukraine. Also, players from Russia and Belarus were banned from playing at grass tournaments in the UK under the auspices of the Lawn Tennis Association.
