Archival photoMOSCOW, May 5.Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky decided to abandon attempts to keep the country's southern, eastern and central regions, ex-deputy of the Rada Ilya Kiva said in Telegram. According to the former parliamentarian, militant and categorical statements coming from Kyiv prove that the head of state is not interested in a peaceful solution to the current situation, as he decided to create a «pro-Western Ukraine» on part of the territory of the former Soviet republic. «Zelensky, on the contrary, needs fierce battles and the maximum number of victims in order to justify the new plan. The Ukrainian leadership is no longer interested in the safety of lives and the cessation of hostilities in the east and south, and later in the center of the country, they have already written them off. And Kyiv too,» Kiva wrote. The politician noted that the actions of the Ukrainian authorities now aimed at causing maximum damage to the infrastructure of cities and industrial facilities, which Kyiv no longer plans to control. As an example, Kiva cited the situation in Mariupol. On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine. As Vladimir Putin stressed, its goal is «to protect people who have been subjected to abuse and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.» The agency called the liberation of Donbass the main goal of the operation.
