File photoMOSCOW, May 5.A court in Ukraine has arrested corporate rights and accounts of enterprises owned by relatives of Ukrainian politicians Viktor Medvedchuk and Taras Kozak, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) of Ukraine reports on its website. «Initiated by the SBI the court seized the corporate rights and accounts of business entities belonging to relatives of People's Deputies of Ukraine Viktor Medvedchuk and Taras Kozak. The seized accounts contained more than 40 million hryvnias (1 million 372 thousand dollars),» the agency said in a statement. On Wednesday, the State Bureau of Investigation conducted regular searches of six facilities located in the Kyiv and Lvov regions. Relatives of Medvedchuk and Kozak, according to the State Bureau of Investigation, are the subjects of criminal proceedings on illegal sand mining. During the searches, valuable paintings, antiques, and other valuables were seized. In April, the Security Service of Ukraine announced the detention of the head of the political council of the Opposition Platform — For Life party, Medvedchuk, on behalf of Volodymyr Zelensky. Later, Zelensky offered Russia to exchange Medvedchuk for captured citizens of Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin will monitor the fate of Medvedchuk and urge European politicians to do so. Later, Medvedchuk's wife, Oksana Marchenko, turned to Zelensky with a demand to release her husband. On the same day, she asked Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan to assist in the release of her husband.
