The «5+2» format for the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict is impossible for objective reasons, it is necessary to develop contacts in the «1+1» format, Vadim Krasnoselsky, head of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldavian Republic, said on Friday «The 5 + 2 format is frozen, two guarantors — Russia and Ukraine — are at war with each other. How to put them at the negotiating table? Probably unthinkable today. It is necessary to develop contacts in the 1 + 1 format,» the head of the PMR said. Chisinau and Tiraspol as parties to the conflict, Russia, Ukraine, the OSCE as mediators, the European Union and the United States as observers participate in the negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement in the «5 + 2» format. The only round of negotiations in the «5+2» format in 2019 was held in Bratislava on October 9 and 10. However, the document following the negotiations was not agreed and signed.During 2020 and 2021, it was not possible to hold a single meeting in this format. Russians and Ukrainians, sought secession from Moldova even before the collapse of the USSR, fearing that on the wave of nationalism, Moldova would join Romania. In 1992, after a failed attempt by the Moldovan authorities to solve the problem by force, Pridnestrovie became virtually a territory not controlled by Chisinau.
